Different Graphics Cards

Welcome everyone, I hope you are all well. I had an idea for another post on my computers blog today while talking with a coworker, and here it is. Who actually knows what a video card is and what it does? Not many of you I assume. That is why I thought( being the nice, considerate man I am) that I should have a little conversation with you guys about graphics cards so you don’t humiliate yourselves like Trent did today. A graphics card, or video card as some refer to it as is an expansion card for your motherboard that feeds visual inputs into a display like a television or monitor. If you are using a graphics card that was installed that means its dedicated graphics,as opposed to a graphics card that is onboard and is therefore referred to as on board memory. This is not very ideal if you want to do any high graphically demanding activities. Read more

Solid States Drives are a Solid Choice

Hey there everybody hope all is well and welcome back to another post on my computers and home electronics blog. I recently found a cheap 120GB Solid State Drive used online that was barely used and since then I have installed my operating system as well as 5 games onto it, and I will be adding more as I find more to add. This has made my boot time remarkably faster and all the games installed run so much more smoothly than they did in the past. The graphics are still not the best as I need to upgrade my graphics card but that will hopefully happen next month. For now I want to just focus on my Solid State Drive, which is really a piece of technological genius. Read more

Some New Apps

Hello folks. How are we all? Thanks for coming back for another instalment of my computer and consumer electronics blog. I hope you have been enjoying it so far. The feedback has certainly been positive and has inspired me to sit down and tap out my thoughts on the computer anytime I find myself with a few spare minutes. Thanks for spurring me on folks! And just so you know, I have a total open door policy in terms of guest blogging. So if you have a topic or subject that you would like to share with your fellow readership then don’t hesitate to drop me a line with a brief synopsis and we can chat further. But let’s not digress too much. I want to get on to my post topic of today which is simply a bit of a shout out to a couple of great apps on iOS I have discovered recently for my iPad. Firstly I came across the Astropad Graphics Tablet app which allows me turn my iPad into a Wacom style graphics tablet for my iMac. Awesome idea! You just need to invest in a suitable stylus. I also came across Practice+ which a utility app for musicians providing a variety of tools that help make a practise session more efficient. Perfect for a newbie guitar player like myself. Both apps are free to download and try out with in-app purchases unlocking the more advanced features should you want to make use of their full potential. You should check them both out.  Read more
